I enjoy literary books that are character-driven instead of plot-driven. Since those are the kind of books I like to read, then that’s the kind of fiction I intend to write. I want to write inspirational type books and stories that uplift people. There is enough degradation in the world already. I don’t intend to add to it. It is my hope that when you finish reading my novels that you remember what I’ve written long after you’ve read it. The writer who influenced me the most is Alice Walker. I read one of her short stories over 25 years ago. I still remember the title, some of the dialogue, and the images that I formed in my mind while reading the story. I want to be a writer like that.

I received a certificate from the Writer’s Digest Novel Writing Workshop. I had 3 poems published in anthologies by World of Poetry Press in 1984 and 1985. I also won Honorable Mention in the 1997 Stage Play category of the Writer’s Digest Magazine Writing Competition. I had a play reading of that same play at the Playwrights’ Center in San Francisco featuring four professional actors in November of 1998.

After being laid off in December 2001, I decided to use this “negative” event as an opportunity to pursue what I've always wanted to do, write. I have just published a book entitled, "How to Survive and Thrive After a Layoff." On July 28, 2003, I was interviewed live on the NBC11 news about my book. I am currently working on a novel entitled, "Real Love", a story that illustrates how guilt can lead to redemption.
