Gary Caplan was born in Philadelphia later became interested in reading Science Fiction and Fantasy books.  Eventually went to the University of Pittsburgh earning three Bachelor’s degrees.  Later  he continued his education earning an MD and an MPH degree.  Dr Caplan is also a preventive medicine officer in the reserves.  He has had a few medical journal article publications, and then after practicing medicine for several years tried to write fiction at first for fun and then decided to work on publishing both a science fiction and sword and sorcery novel in his spare time.
