I worked for corporate America. Went back to school as nontraditional student. Earned BA & MA Psychology; Ph.D Sociology. Did therapy on my own and in a facility. Taught in college and in prisons. Became an agent. Sold many books, but found that major publishers were more than reluctant to publish first time writers. Together with husband Glen and agency partner Lois Bennett founded Fireside Publicatons .
I've been influenced by learning that a lot of really good writers are passed by when the major agents, editors and publishers look for material for publication.
As a writer, I published An Agent Speaks, A Primer for Unpublished Writers a couple of years ago. It's written from my standpoint as a literary agent. The short Story Book called CATS, contains stories from all over the country, some fiction, some true, including one that I wrote about my cat, Strawberry. My novel about a woman attorney and the trials and tribulations of her career and love life was recently published. It's title is: Call of the Loon. The title came from the setting. I lived on the St. Lawrence River in Upstate NY for a year while teaching in a college there. I fell in love with the river and with the call of the loons and with sitting on my dock meditating on the river.
As a publisher, I have published Jack Winnick's East Wind, John Howard's Faces in the Mirror, which contrasts Oscar Micheaux and Spike Lee, Ruth Treeson's The Long Walk, a contrast between her years as a young girl in a concentration camp and her life in America, Gisela Reidinger's story Engelhardt about her family and her voyage from her native Germany to life in the states, and two romantic suspense novels, one paranormal, The Crystal Angel and Rose Cottage both by Oliia Claire High, among others. I've continued to edit books and publish books, both fiction and non-fiction. All are available in bookstores and on Amazon.com and Nook.
Other writing includes many articles published in various magazines and six and a half years as a weekly columnist for a Central Florida daily newspaper.
I also love to travel, preferably via ship. My favorite place in the world is the Left Bank of Paris.
