I am not old, just more mature!

Background Information

Born and raised in Czechoslovakia, in Bratislava, a city of 250,000.  His life would be forever changed by the events of the WWII.  James had a difficult childhood.  War raged, hunger ruled and people were dying, including children.  Books became his only friends, and the tool to escape reality.  James always loved reading, and his family had a large collection of books, from Aesop's Fables through Hans Andersen's fairy tales to Dr. Seuss.
James began writing while studying at the University.  He had to free himself of all the destructive influences of the war, embedded deep inside his memory. He wanted to express his thoughts and feelings on paper. They were far from Andersen's beautiful tales, but marked the start of his desire to write.
In short, it was well after he received his PhD from psychology that he decided to write for children.  He wanted to write not about war and destruction, but about the beauty all around us, and happy children.
James said, "I see children's faces; their eyes lit up and wide open, listening to every word, excited.  I imagine 'I did it!'  I made them excited and happy."
As much as he enjoys writing children's titles, he still considers himself a child at heart.

Dr. James Werner is Newest PM Moon Publishers, LLC Author James Werner, Ph.D. signs contract for his title, Night Light. Born and reared in Bratislava, in the country of Czechoslovakia, and currently living in Canada, Dr. James states that the World War II forged him into the writer he is today. Dr. James R. Werner FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PRLog (Press Release) Jun 19, 2009 "What actually got me into writing, maybe for the wrong reasons, was that I had all my childhood experiences from WWII locked inside me. I felt I had to express my thoughts and feelings on paper. They were far from Andersen's beautiful tales, but marked the start of my desire to write. My only friends during the war were my books. My father was a historian and in love with old philosophers, so I could say that my first influence was Aesop's Fables. I did not fully understand his morals, but I loved them. Next was Hans Christian Andersen, his fairy tales and stories, and then Dr Seuss. I was always in love with children's books. The most exciting thing is to see how the characters develop and how the plot of the story comes together. When the story is complete after rewrites, I reread it again and again. I see children's faces; their eyes lit up and wide open, listening to every word, excited. I imagine that I did it! I made them happy and excited. It is the most satisfying feeling. When I sit down to write or study, I don't have any distractions except for my pussycat "Puffy" and she is easy to please. " Although expressing concerns about his English, Dr. Werner is a master linguist. "I envy people who have English as their first language. They have it much easier than me. English is not my first language and I am still learning to use correct grammar and punctuation. I speak three languages fluently, besides English. I think that English is a language of exceptions. It takes me longer to finish my manuscripts. Yes, it is frustrating. According to Mara C. Forsythe, Managing Editor, Night Light was an editors choice. "After the official PM Moon First Annual New Authors Writing Contest, some of the editors expressed disappoinment that this writer didn't win or that writer missed by one or two points. So I asked each editor to pick out one or two manuscripts that they would like to see developed into a title. Night Light was one of those". # # # About us: PM MOON PUBLISHERS, LLC is a Neo-Traditional Publisher, started to offer publishing opportunities to the unknown, or barely known author.
