Born an Aquarius in 1976, Rodrick Bates, a native of Jackson, TN who now lives in Nashville is a poetical writer of love and its emotions. While one day searching for a creative way to express his feelings at the age of twenty one, he didn’t realize that his creativity would develop into a life-long passion. Even though his style of writing is traditional with meter and perfect rhymes, his heart felt and uniquely assembled words keep readers going to the next line. Using his own familiarity with love as well as witnessing the relationships of others, his poems target the hearts of readers and stretch the imagination as far as the mind will allow.
Since the 2005 publication of his chapbook, Emotions of Love, Bates has grown significantly as a writer. You can find his work in various anthologies and on multiple websites as he continues to reach a wide range audience and readers. He also has been recognized for his work by the International Society of Poets, American Writer’s Poetry League, and the League of American Poets. Idolizing great writers like Tyler Perry, Bates knows he has a road to travel to be mentioned with such great company.
