I began writing as a teenager but never thought of it as a career until several years later. As an avid student of human nature, my experiences as a teacher, a broadcaster, and through two decades of marketing have given me plenty of material for a variety of characters and plot lines.

Background Information

As an author, I was influenced heavily by my high school and college English teachers who taught me the value of a good story and the simple joy of telling it. The essence of my first published novel, THE MENDELIAN THRESHOLD (August 2000, Tattersall Publishing), I owe to my high school biology teacher, the late Dr. Bill Butefish, who planted that first seed of ethical curiosity about "science playing God", and who first uttered the newly-coined term "clone" during one of his many incredible lectures.

My second, third, fourth and fifth novels, THE CHRISTMAS POODLE (November 2002 - PageFree Publishing),  THE CHRISTMAS TREE HOUSE (September 2003 - PageFree Publishing),  THE CHRISTMAS POODLE CHRISTMAS WISH (July 2004 - PageFree Publishing), and THE CHRISTMAS POODLE CHRISTMAS PROMISE (July 2005 - PageFree Publishing) draw upon almost three decades of experience working with youth at risk and dysfunctional families to tell the story of two orphans whose plight is echoed throughout this country by the many thousands of children left to fend for themselves.  The mysterious appearance of a large, white Standard Poodle combined with a little Christmas magic serve to enhance the holiday reading experience for the entire family.

My collaberation with a Canadian screenwriter has produced two screenplays and a stage play..

I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to other writers whose works and encouragements prodded me to complete my dream of publishing .  - Robert Humphrey

THE MENDELIAN THRESHOLD, Finalist for ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year Award 2000, is my first published Science Fiction novel. However, I have published a number of articles over the years, including the series, "A Big Brother Shares", which has been added to the training materials of a part of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Organization. December 2002 brought the release of THE CHRISTMAS POODLE, a short seasonal work dedicated to a very special member of the family and, according to readers, destined to become a classic. I followed that work in July 2003 with THE CHRISTMAS TREE HOUSE, which continues the story of Jamie and Tessie Kimball and leads into the third book in the series, THE CHRISTMAS POODLE CHRISTMAS WISH, and the fourth book, THE CHRISTMAS POODLE CHRISTMAS PROMISE, released in November 2005.
