I wrote my first story in 4th grade. The class had to read each others story. One girl told me that she liked my story so well, she read it four times. In 7th grade, I wrote an oral book report and had to read it out loud.. I was terrified, until the class roared with laughter. Then I knew I wanted to be a writer.
Fatal Accident is based on a true story and tells the other side of the story, the side hardly ever talked about, the drivers side.
Bad things do happen to good people. It happens to people of all ages. No-one thinks it will happen to them. These things happen to other people not me. What they fail to realize is the unexpected can happen. What about a deer suddenly jumping in front of you. Or a tire blowing out. Or someone else hitting you? It only takes a moment and it's too late. You can never take it back. And if there's alcohol involved it becomes a felony. It doesn't just happen to you, it happens to the whole familys' of everyone involved, and that is an unbearable burden to shoulder the responsibility for the rest of your life. If this story can help anybody. It was worth writing.

Fatal Accident
Fatal Accident is about 35-year-old mother and wife, Donna Pipher, who thinks she is in control of her life and doesn’t see drinking as a problem until one day tragedy strikes. She crashes her car and her best friend of 30 years, Mary, dies.
One week later comes a bombshell. The county is charging her with vehicular manslaughter. She doesn’t have the $10,000 the attorney said he’d need to represent her and the public defender has turned her down. Now along with her sorrow, shame, guilt and remorse, she’s terrified of going to prison. Or worse yet, Hell. Although she has accepted Christ as her savior, she can’t believe that God will still love and guide her after what she’s done.
Mary’s husband, Scott, suggests a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, but even with Christian rededication, she is terrified of going anywhere, not knowing how many enemies she’s made in the small town of Colby. In fact it’s excruciatingly difficult for her to leave the house in order to attend the D and A classes.
Donna, an everyday person in a small town, faces an existential night mare and struggles to overcome. Will she or won't she?
