I graduated, with a B.A. Degree in Sociology, from the University of CA. I immediately became an elementary school teacher. Later, I earned my Master of Arts Degree, in Special Education, from Notre Dame de Namur University. My experiences teaching autistic children was a mixture of so many emotions it is difficult to explain - however, I would not trade this experience for anything.
My book, The Autism Handbook, is 12 chapters in length. Six of the chapters deal with an explanation of autism, possible causes, schooling an autistic youngster, and the future. The other six chapters deal with six autistic children I taught. It explains their behavior, background, and how the staff worked with each one - my hope is that parents, care-providers, family members, and all of those people working with these children will gain an insight to the disability and learn ways to deal with various behaviors.
I am presently living in Baja California, Mexico. The knowledge here is limited as is written information. My publisher, #1 Book Publishers, is offering the book in both Spanish and English. I will kick off a book campaign giving lectures at various colleges and universities in Baja California and then move south. This will be followed by lectures, seminars, and conferences in the United States. My goal is to spread the work about autism.
