Award-winning poet and essayist with four books that will call up tears and tickle your funny bone...

Background Information

While Buck has taught writing and literature at the college level for 15 years, she believes that art must leave the classroom and land in the lap of the real world. What distinguishes her poetry and humor is the double-gavel of laughter and acidic honesty. "Writing," she says, "is a tuba in a long parade that chases pain and sorrow to their dissolution."

Birth Place
Medford, OR USA

Janet Buck is a six-time Pushcart Nominee. Her poetry has recently appeared in PoetryBay, CrossConnect, Poetry, Offcourse, MiPo, Stirring, Runes, Scrivener's Pen, Niederngasse, Kimera, Southern Ocean Review, Ariga, Facets Magazine, Three Candles, The Montserrat Review, and hundreds of journals worldwide. In 1999, Newton's Baby Press published her first print collection entitled Calamity's Quilt. Buck's work is forth-coming in Recursive Angel, Red River Review, The Pedestal Magazine, and Zuzu's Petals Quarterly. Janet's second print collection, Tickets to a Closing Play, was the winner of the 2002 Gival Press Poetry Award; the book is scheduled for release in October of 2003.
