My book is not what it started out to be.
Back in the nineties, Men are from Mars Women are from Venus was getting all kinds of attention on the best sellers' list, selling millions of copies. Personally I felt the movement to being senstive to our mates was being overdone.
A book with a title like Men are from Mars Women are from Hell was needed to balance the scale. It would be a joke book bashing women. The first joke I put on the pad on my night stand addressed the age old toilet seat left up complaint with; "Anyone who will set their naked ass down on something without looking first is stupid". The idea was to build on this simple gender bashing theme.
This soon got boring. In looking back over many years of collecting jokes in my mind and being a pretty good story teller and then especially when I started gathering new material, it became more and more clear that men and women have quite different senses of humor.
Suddenly I found myself getting cerebal. I opened the book with the classic "pig with a wooden leg" joke that men love and to which women react with disgust. The newly confident, sexist midget was next; a joke that always gets a big laugh from women. Then I stared finding quotes from famous women with their put downs of men including quotes from famous men speaking to both sides. As I continued this approach I even came up with some original thoughts. It started to take on a life of its own and became fun.
Unlike what the title implies, the book doesn't just bash women. It might even hit men a little harder. Yeah there are a few dumb blonde jokes that I think are just good jokes. But in being aware of the different senses of humor this book should make men as well as women think a little and laugh alot.
