Aspiring African American Author of Non-Fiction book, "When Death Comes a Knockin'," as well as Poems, Short Stories and Essays.

Background Information

I began writing approximately 10 years ago after the sudden deaths of my mother and infant son that happened Thirty-Three days apart in 1994. It was at the suggestion of my husband that I write about my experience, what I was going through in order that I might find healing through my writing. My first non-fiction book, "Never Say Goodbye," is about the short life of my infant son, Jalen and all of the trials and tribulations we went through even before his birth. Although that book is 75% complete, I have written numerous poems, some of which can be found here and on the Timbooktu website. I have also written several other short stories, Errand Boy, For The Love of Trace, First Love and am at work on my first fiction books, "Sacrifices In The Name of Love," and "Black Sheep of The Family." I am the mother of three children, Haven 23, Alexis 3 and Jalen (Deceased 10 yrs). I am the 911 Supervisor for my local Police Department and in addition to writing, I love reading, traveling, meeting new people and networking via the internet. I have been married to my wonderful husband for twenty five years. My first published poem, "What Foods Would Have Made You Grow?" is included in an anthology, "Down The Cereal Aisle," by Daniel's House Publications, 2003. One of my essays, Faith in Healing is included in a Faith Anthology by Obadiah Press, 2004 and I have six (6) letters that will be included in the Celebrations Anthologies by The Dawkins Project, 2004.

In addition, I have one poem, "What Foods Would Have Made You Grow," that is included in an antholgoy, "Down The Cereal Aisle," by Daniel's House Publication, 2003 and an essay, "When A Terrible Illness Strikes," will be included in the Faith Anthology by Obadiah Press.
