For the last 15 years or so, I’ve lived in the world-famous tourist site of Blarney, Co, Cork, Ireland and ‘yes,’ I’ve kissed the Blarney Stone and ‘no’ it hasn’t helped or taken from the writing.
In previous life-forms I’ve trained and worked at teaching, partially trained as an accountant, counselling, meditating, relaxation techniques and mediating. Why the long list? Don't know the answer - just have many interests. perhaps These interests and training have leant a flavour to the subsequent writing.
My writing for children is influenced by the ‘hundreds’ of stories I read to them at bedtime. The years of story-reading worked for me – I fell asleep, they didn’t! And guess what? They (the grown-up children) don't even read my books. However the arrival of two grandchildren fills me with some hope that they will like the stories or something like that.
Look up www.celinesbooksonline.com and read more about the following published so far : 1 poetry book – Cork. A City in Pieces (2005); 3 childrens’ stories - The Mystery of the Shandon Clock (2005); The Mystery of the Shandon Rumblings (2006); The Mystery of the Shandon Rainbow Trail (2009).
There's a gap, I know! I got distracted by writing 2 musicals and several songs – available if your ears are up to it on www.sibeliusmusic.com. Find me at ‘Browse by Composer’ under ‘S‘. Go easy with your comments, I’m not so sure of the music! It’s all a bit raw and unfinished and needs a good arranger to join with me! Anyone out there brave enough and adventurous? Let me know, please. The clock of years is ticking !
Rightly or wrongly, I write about what I know – the place I live in and the people I live with.
