Grant de Graf is an economist, writer, blogger, and social networking enthusiast who is active in a number of multi-media initiatives. De Graf was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He spent his impressionable years in Durban, where he matriculated from the Durban High School. He has a business degree from the University of Cape Town with majors in accounting and economics. During a stint in the South African Navy he was selected to undergo training as a navy diver, and in underwater explosives.
Additionally, de Graf played a meaningful role in South Africa's political transformation. He was defeated in a nomination contest to run for Parliament on an anti-crime and anti-apartheid ticket, by a handful of votes, during the apartheid era.
He has notched up experience in the trenches of Wall Street as a trader, freelanced for a number of news channels and tabloids, is active in film making and video production and has a keen interest in wildlife. Grant de Graf cut his teeth on fiction, with his debut entry Cavalier's Call, a historical novel set at the dawn to Portugal's Age of Discovery. The publication has received five star reviews.
