I was born in Greenville North Carolina and grew up in Nash County, North Carolina. I have lived in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi, and I now live in Castalia North Carolina with my husband. Along with The fabulous kids and teenagers in our family.
Then I was in elementary school, I read books, wrote poetry , made books, and wrote, I was much immersed in creative activity. In high school, I continued to write, I am a commissioner for the Town of Castalia .My artistic urges just would not let me be. Therefore, I decided to become a children's writer after I learned that the profession included generous amounts of storytelling. I developed my knowledge and appreciation of children's literature, and honed in on my creative skills to write children's books.
When I write, I remember my children, and how much the children love high drama and slapstick humor. Some of my children’s books are original stories and poetry, while others are retellings of traditional folktales with fresh traditions. Most of my books have some connection to the oral tradition with new ideas in place, and all of them are meant to be read aloud. I like to approach the classic genres of children’s literature in an offbeat ways. My recent book, Eve Hallows, in which I encourage children to learn they are not limited by sickness or circumstance and can enjoy the holidays in a manner with wonderful magical characters. My new book Eve Hallows, is due out Spring 2010 my next book Eve Hallows a Frost On the Pumpkin is due out in the summer of 2010, it is another story about the same great characters with a new twists unfolding, .
