I have lived a somewhat confusing life, especially in my younger years, being the first child born to a white man and a black woman in a country where such an act was illegal, and experiencing discrimination from both racial divides, especially from what I considered to be my own people, the black people in the village in which I was born and grew up.

My biggest inspiration was my maternal grandmother, Mbuya, a true matriach, who, by the time she died, had accumulated an impressive brood of well over 100 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

My writing will include stories of my experiences and the experiences of others closely related or associated with me.
