Greetings! Captain A. Saman Loomis, of the dirigible Hezekiah, at your service.
I'm a 2012 graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, WV. I started writing in 1999, when I fell in love with Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Since then my writing has been most notably influenced by Mark Twain, Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, and Terry Pratchett. I started out writing horror, then found poetry and general fiction. I'm an avid reader and only limit myself genre-wise away from romance, science fiction, and more 'hardcore' fantasy.
I write fiction, nonfiction such as vignettes and essays, poetry, and copywriting (advertising, basically). Among my prose works I've written historical fiction, young adult general fiction, supernatural, and fantasy. I tend to stick to bildungsroman but I am trying to branch out into more adult characters and themes. As a poet I've been published in 4 contests and one non-student anthology, as well as in a local writing project at the public library. Sometimes I write poetry in Spanish. I have a preoccupation with angels, especially ones who've fallen from grace, and the ocean as a metaphor for... oh, everything.
