I'm a huge fan of SF/F, both written and onscreen. My favorite authors, the ones that have most influenced my own writing, are Andre Norton, Elizabeth Moon, and Isaac Asimov. Favorite movies include such campy classics as "Spacehunter in the Forbidden Zone", "Flash Gordon", "Dragonslayer", anything James Bond, classic "Sinbad", "Cutthroat Island", "Muppet Treasure Island", and "Strange Brew". Favorite TV shows include "Buck Rogers" (yes, the horibbly wonderful 1979 version), "Stargate SG-1", classic "Star Trek", and "Firefly".
My day job involves running a starship simulator, usually for 7 - 9 year-old children. (Gotta catch them early and get them indoctrinated to the wonders of space travel and alien encounters.) I'm also the planetarium director, curriculum specialist, general office help, and Klingon lunch lady. All of this happens at an elementary school in Pleasant Grove, Utah. I write because I love telling stories. I love getting inside the characters, figuring out who they are and why they do what they do. I love action and adventure, danger and drama, and the occasional dash of romance.
I also piece quilts for much the same reasons; playing with colors and textures, using traditional patterns in very non-traditional ways.
