My name is Joel Lee, and I'm what one might call an upcoming author. I am something of a political activist, and firmly believe that the overall spirit of a culture lives within its art. Centuries from now, when we are but a collection of names and faces, today's art will be the sum our identity and the tale of our dreams, fears, thoughts and actions. As a poet, I have nothing less than a romantic adoration for words. I love their sounds, and textures on the tongue. I love the way words make our thoughts, and the thoughts that make up words.
I am heavily influenced by the works of famous transcendentalists, and the experiences of growing up around religious scholars. As the youngest child of an Apostolic minister, I was raised with the Bible in one hand and a hymnal in the other. I was very much encouraged to write, and to experiment with style and content. In recent years, I have helped to organize, and present several works at Uniterian Universalist services, and been published in several literary magazines.
