I have spent most of my adult life bringing up my four children and running a smallholding in West Wales. When the children grew old enough not to need round the clock attention I went back into education and gained a batchelor's degree in English and a master's in medieval history. Now I combine those skills to produce Historical novels.
My novels are set in the Anglo Saxon/Medieval period and provide a voice for the women who were overlooked by monastic scribes. My novel, Peaceweaver, ISBN: 978-1849234771 was published in Nov 09. It tells the
story of Eadgyth Aelfgarsdottir, wife to Gruffydd ap Llewellyn, the first ruler of all Wales and Harold II of England. At the tender age of thirteen she finds herself thrust into the feuding, male dominated world of Anglo-Saxon Britain.
The Forest Dwellers ISBN: 978-1-908603-63-0. Ælf relates the story of a family who dwell in the woods of Ytene, a land so fair and rich in game that it is coveted by the new king for his hunting ground. The people of Ytene are persecuted, evicted from their homes and forced to live in exile from the lands their forebears have inhabited for generations. Life is hard. The Norman interlopers are hated. One day Ælf and Leo encounter a trio of Normans attempting to rape Alys, a forest girl fairer than any they have ever seen. They stop the attack in the only way they can … violently.
The Song of Heledd, set in 7th Powys is taken from a fragmentary poem in the Book of Hergest, The Song of Heledd is the tale of Heledd, a celtic princess whose actions lead the defeat and downfall of her dynasty. I have pieced together fragments of history and poetry to form a fiction of what might have been.
All of my books are also available on Amazon Kindle.
