Background Information

Charles Peter Watson is a writer, artist, horticulturalist, and nursery merchandising vendor from West Babylon who's been writing lyricism and poetry for over 25 years, with works published in anthologies by the National Library of Poetry, Wexford Publishing Co., and Quill Books as well as in Soul Fountain, The Performance Poets Association Literary Journal, Poetry Bay, and The Bards Annual. He attended engineering technology courses at SUNY Farmingdale, switching to Liberal Arts & Sciences in 1991 where he received the Raynor Wallace Poetry Award's runner-up prize for his poem "Visions Of Peculiarity". He became the SUNY Farmingdale Rambler's chief editorialist and distribution manager, earning a Certificate Of Recognition for his works. Receiving an Associates In Arts & Sciences in Liberal Arts & Sciences, he maintained his writing as lyricist of his metal band at the time. In 2004, he re-applied to Farmingdale State University for Ornamental Horticulture while an inventory clerk at Hicks Nurseries, Inc., graduating in 2008 with an Associates in Applied Sciences before receiving state certification as a nursery and landscape professional from the Long Island Nurserymen and Landscapers Association. He entered Long Island's poetry community in 2009 at the first Super Poem Sunday and has since joined the Long Island Writers Guild, The Long Island Poetry Collective, The Bards Initiative, Performance Poetry Association, and The North Scene Poetry Scene through which he was elected to its executive board of the Long Island Archival and Arts Center in the Summer of 2013. Local Gems Poetry Press published his first book, "Netherworld Befalls", a collection of 50 Gothic-oriented poetry of varying degrees. He followed up with two self-published books, "A Hairy Palm Companion" and "The Blue Moon Complexicon: One Giant Leap For Penmankind". Besides the United States, all three of his books are distributed in Canada, United Kingdom, Spain, Holland, Denmark, India, Italy, Japan, and Australasia, through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and numerous independent book sellers. Excerpts of his works can be seen and heard online at any of his social networking pages. On July 17, 2014, The Bards Initiative honored him with their "Most Humble Member" Award for his volunteer work in providing photo and video recordings and contributory service at poetry events.
