Byron Merritt is the coauthor of Monterey Shorts, a collection of short stories set along the serene Monterey Bay area in California.

Background Information

Undoubtedly my grandfather (Frank Herbert) was a driving force behind my literary career. My uncle, Brian Herbert, is a friend and mentor to me as is Kevin J. Anderson.

Additional Information

I've placed 1st and 3rd in local writing competitions in the Monterey area and have had rave reviews for my new book, Monterey Shorts, appear all over the California Central Coast. I've appeared at the National Writers Union Local 7 chapter roundtable discussion in 2002 and will be featured in 2003 at the California Writers Club meeting. I have a story coming out in Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine in March entitled 'Father Figure.' I've also posted two stories on the internet related to my grandfather's work ('Frank Herbert Lives' and a comparative study of the two films done on Dune).
