As a child, I was often asked "what do you want to be when you grow up?" My answer..."a sports announcer" was a source of amusement.  A female African American from a single parent impoverished household...not likely....choose something else little girl.  Thankfully, times have changed.  When I decided seriously to write children's fiction, I asked myself questions.  I couldn't determine what had given me the intestinal fortitude to pursue heights that society considered unattainable.  My answer was an incident that almost crippled me emotionally in the fourth grade. Hence,  I write for those who are too young to understand social ills and the solutions thereof.  I self published "Mr. Browne's Roses" because of time constraints.  The sequel "Mr. Browne and the Rose Show" was placed on the back burners for a decade until I met a Tate Publishing author at a Scrabble tournament.  I've enjoyed the entire publishing process and look forward to marketing and promotions.
