As a child, Katharine Schopp spent countless hours lost in the pages of her favorite books. When the books ended, she'd ask her Mom, "What happens next?" Her Mom would say, "Whatever you want to happen next will happen next; you can make anything happen, in your imagination."
Those words turned Katharine's imagination loose, and she started imagining new endings or sequels to her favorite stories. She started writing the stories down, then proceeded to write her own stories, songs, and poems. She often wrote plays that were acted out by her friends.
As an adult and teacher, Katharine shared her love of reading and writing with her students. She created an extensive class library and encouraged the children to read with their parents.
As an author, Katharine hopes to provide readers with that same thrilling sense of anticipation and escape that books provided her as a child. "When you hold a book in your hands, you are holding an entire magical world, where anything can happen. In books, children can do anything. I want to give children a sense of empowerment, while still providing them with a fun escape from their every day lives. When children read my books, I want them to know that their thoughts, dreams, and feelings are important...that they are important, and nothing is impossible."
