I lived & grew up in North Mozambique, Pemba, I did not know about cyber space, cellphones, laptops, most of the technology or gadgets of the modern world, or fancy cars only 4x4's untill I moved back to South Africa, we (me, my brothers & sisters) sort of lived a Tarzan lifestyle, surfing, swimming, rock climbing, mountain biking, the outdoors is all we knew & had for fun, "I won't trade it for anything". The only down side about living in part-jungle, part- island, was the computer with our home schooling program, kept on giving problems & we got behind with our education. This made life very hard, because when we grew older, it became difficult to find jobs ect.
I'm currently studying, enhancing my education. If there is anything I have to advise the young generation, it will be, study hard, don't drop out of school. You have the oppertunity don't waste it, you have no idea how hard life is without it. Many doors will be closed for you as well.
The major influence in my life is my mother, Francis Equealla her "writers name". She's like a bottomless well of knowledge & wisdom, an amazing avatar like a supreme being & a great mother. It is not only because she had to raise five children, but also the way she handles other children & people.
My dad also had a great infuence on me & my life. It was not easy living in Mozambique & being an entrepeneur. Like a pheonix he always will rise from the ashes, & do not let disapointments get him down. "I've heard rumours, not many people can get that right".
Everytime when I feel life gets me down I think of my dad "the pheonix", I visualize myself rising from the ashes once again, "it always works"
