Garrity started writing when she was in sixth grade at the suggestion of her English teacher. She's worked as a journalist for about 20 years, but took the plunge into fiction writing last year, with the publication of Always a Bridesmaid. Her short stories have also appeared in regional publications and newspapers.

More than two dozen regional, national and international journalism awards. Garrity recently won a distinguished writing award for her work as a journalist.
