In the early 1970's I wrote 2 manuscripts, they were both great stories however reality crept in and the reality was the needed for money to purchase food and clothing and to pay my bills. So to the back of my mind went the idea of being a novelist and in front came reality. However, over the years the thought persisted, I wrote poems, I kept a daily diary and when I went back to college to pursue my nursing degree my English teachers were fascinated by my abilities at writing. Pleased with that outcome the urge to write fought its way back to the forefront of my mind and after i gradusted from nursing school and attained my licence as a registered nurse, I sat down and prepared to write again. I bought a personal computer with software that would allow me to write as if i was scripting. After years of writing and several heartbreaking events came Herphilisneurolysis (HER-PHILIS-NEURO-LYSIS). It has been a learning experience every step along the way. The current lessons are in marketing and promotion of my book.
Herphilisneurolysis is a story of a sexually transmitted diseasediscovered in Siberia pre-World War Two. The early part of the novel is based on historical events including the Black Plague, World War Two, Stalin's Purges, The Cold War, The Cuban Missile crisis and the building of the Trans Alaskan Pipeline. This gripping novel takes you from when the pathogen and the resulting disease was discovered and its effect on the Russian population and how their leaders handled it in the midst of fighting a war of survival. It then takes you trhough the KGB reasearches after the war on the pathogen and discoveries. It then goes onto the Russian decision to infect the US population with the pathogen. From there the book becomes character driven.
The characters are varied, but are interesting. They are brutal and wicked, they are passionate and compassionate. they are suffering and dying. This must read book could be offensive to some who desire to have no sexual activity express in their literature but such is the topic and at times it is graphic. You will be taken through a variety of emotions for the characters as you get to know them. You will despise some characters for the things they do, and love others again for who they are, You will feel for others as you sense their emotional and physical pain. you may even cry as you see the reality of thie story and wonder if this is really a fiction.
