Native American Poet

Background Information

I am a member of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe. I have been writing Native American poetry since 2004.

My inspiration derives from my Sioux heritage as well the history and culture. The wolf, buffalo, and eagle are also very inspirational in my work too.

Additionally, I am a native of Colorado, my academic background consists of an A.A.S and State Certificate from Pueblo Community College, in addition, I have attained my B.S. Degree and graduated cum laude from Colorado State University-Pueblo, where I majored in Exercise Science, Health Promotion and Recreation with a minor in education. I am currently working on my Masters Degree (MA) endorsement in Special Education.

In 2004, I received a Certificate of Recognition from The Writing Across the Curriculum Task Force and Southern Colorado Teacher Education Alliance for Commendable Achievement. In 2005, I received the Capps Capozzolo Award For Academic Excellence.

Additional Information

My poetry has been published in The Poet Tree Magazine and the Sota Iya Ye Yapi Publication.
