I believe that marketing is out of control. I believe that people don't understand that the effect of so much un-targeted marketing makes people live in silos and separates themselves from each other. I also believe that the marketing community keeps selling us a bill of sales that has been bankrupt from at least (from what I can calculate) from 1972 but was noticed in the 1800's by Wanamaker - that most of your advertising and marketing dollars are waisted.... and that most people don't know how much money they are actually throwing away on marketing... this is a pretty pervasive problem.
In 1972 Kenneth Arrow won the Nobel Peace Prize for proving that inference statistics tells a person nothing about preference. This is the same statistic measurement still employed by all the market research companies out there...and what makes matters worse, is that when we as humans actually tell someone why we like or don't like something it is because our conscious brains said so... when in fact our unconscious brain is programmed to reject or accept information based on preferences programmed before we turned 3 years old and has nothing to do with what our conscious brain makes up!
I've personally worked with stataticians and have done the research on communication tools, and the human brain. I've come up with a methodology of how to poll a very targeted group of clients and have them create a long term memory of a product. My polling has produced some pretty unbelievable results for companies that have been willing to take the chance... well take the chance of paying less than the third of the price of having a focus group - so take the chance of getting better results while cutting out large market research fees.
So I plan on coming out with a couple more ebooks that teach the topic before my hard-covered book is complete - please watch out for them and feel free to let me know what you think.
