Although educated in Chemistry, my true interests are history and literature (hey, something has to pay the bills until I hit the big one!), especially the prototypes - the first of their kind - like the Hunley. Looking at some other mysteroius twists in history.Literature is in my background. Ivan Goncharov (Oblomov, et. al.) is a distant relative. Other interesting lines include Aleksandr Baranov (last Russian governor of Alaska), the Jegello Dynasty of Lithuania and Poland, and Genghis Khan (now there's a combination of backgrounds, eh?).Born of Latvian parents, I grew up in central New York hearing stories of the old country and the relatives that I knew only through photographs. I spent years studying the great Latvian and Russian writers, and my writing style reflects this blend of American and European roots. I have also studied American, Latvian, and European histories, and spent countless hours researching my personal geneology. I have travelled to the idyllic land of the stories I had heard so many times, and finally found where I could truly call home. I have never felt more comfortable in a city as I did in Riga, especially Old Town. In the tradition of my nomadic ancestors, my search was complete when I roamed the city streets of Riga, and said, "I am home". The stories of my parents along with my travels have sparked the completion of Telmenu Saimnieks, and the beginnings of two other stories of Telmeni and her family. Work is progressing, and soon the completed trilogy of Telmeni's family will be in print.
