Growing up in the city of Detroit, Michigan, Linda graduated from Cass Technical High School, one of the premier schools in the nation. Linda graduated from Michigan State University and continued her education at Wayne State University earning two Masters Degrees. Her first teaching assignment in Detroit was on the low east side, working with children for 8 years in a highly disadvantaged area. Continuing her teaching, Linda taught art to Detroit students for seven years. Urban education was her passion for 15 years and upon visiting the famous Heidelberg Project in 2004, Linda became impassioned about the whimsical art and the messages of peace, harmony, and diversity that Tyree Guyton reflects in his art. This art, considered "raw art" is derived from others' castoff materials such as tires, vacuum cleaners, and stuffed toys. Each art installment has its own story, and Linda's poetry and photography describes it to readers in a unique and engaging way. Linda's roots are in Detroit and her desire is to reach out to children and enrich their lives through art and education.
