Love Words, Love to Write. Prefer fiction for telling real stories, memoir and nonfiction when facts need verification.

Background Information

Love to read, which led to love of expression in written words. Wrote term papers for friends in college in exchange for canteen. Always wrote materials for assorted professions. Taught inside adult prisons for 18 years. First published books  were nontraditional texts for incarcerated offenders. One, PARENTING FROM A DISTANCE, is in third edition 25 years after the original. Male offenders less challenging in the classroom than females. It's all about gender differences. Still work with female offenders as a volunteer. I do it for their children who need honesty about criminal behavior, but without disturbing details.

Related published works include a prison teacher's memoir, DANCING TO THE CONCERTINA'S TUNE, and a YA book, AN INMATE'S DAUGHTER.

Now write fiction and some family history, and manage a small regional press in Gig Harbor, Washington.

Birth Place
Bremerton, WA USA

The memoir and YA novel were both named Washington Reads choices by the state librarian. Hold awards from correctional education profession.

Additional Information

Just released A FARM IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC SEA, a fictionalized account of a Seattle businesswoman's adventures establishing a spiny lobster nursery in the Kingdom of Tonga. It's fiction, but it's real. Reviewers say "...well crafted characters, moving plot, unique setting.
