A life-long resident of Illinois, I began writing short stories in junior high and high school and moved on to novella-length stories (handwritten), read mainly by family and friends. My love of writing took a back seat to earning a living when I graduated high school and took a job as a typist in Chicago’s Loop. My husband and I were married soon after, now more than 35 years ago. Together we moved around to several suburbs as we each pursued college degrees and careers.
We recently moved to a new house in the western suburbs of Chicago. After a long career as a computer programmer, I got serious about doing something with my writing around 2002. The Dreamer Gambit, published in 2011 by Write Words, Inc., was my first success in that endeavor, and I now have three different mystery series going: The Jack Watson Series (Dreamer was the first volume) followed by The Faces Series (three Tracy Wiley books) and The Windsong Lake Series (Dabblers plus a sequel, Seer, Tyro, Fiend, coming soon). I also sometimes write short stories which can be found here and on my Google site, Kathryn Flatt, Writer.

Twice received an Honorable Mention in the Writers of the Future Contest, March and November, 2010. In 2011, achieved a Semifinalist standing in that contest.
