My novels expose the dark underside of our legal system!  I've practiced law in Connecticut for over twenty years, handling civil and family litigation cases.  A few years ago I took mediation training, and was instantly hooked on a softer, easier, and usually cheaper way to help people to resolve conflicts.  I founded, and am still the Chair of the Professional Women's Alliance of Connecticut, pwa-ct.com, a group whose mission is to offer information in such areas as finance, law, mortgages and insurance to people who are navigating major life transitions. My publishing company, Lakeland Terrier Press, LLC, began as a series of articles that I posted on my law practice website---I wanted to address the stories that I was hearing from clients, particularly women, over and over.  After that, I started writing books. 

My two novels, Stay Balanced! and Eyes Up, Heels Down, and work in progress Inside Leg, Outside Rein are all about teaching women to avoid the usual traps:  litigation, narcissistic men, giving up financial power, and medicating rather than dealing with an issue.  The titles are horseback riding terms, used as themes for lessons learned in each book.   The stories follow the adventures of multi-tasking trial attorney Emma Carbury, and are often humorous, but they also delve into fraught topics like economic abuse within marriages, bullying and incest.

My goal is empower people---especially my women readers.  I want to teach people to go with their gut instincts, and to think for themselves.  I feel that self-trust is the key to happiness.
