The author lives in Northern California and is a scientist on the faculty of the University of California and a big fan of California mystery novels. A quick search of Amazon will turn up books and articles in biochemistry previously edited or authored by Jerry, but The Empanada Affair was his first novel. The Ambivalent Corpse is the second book in the Roger Bowman-Suzanne Foster series. A third book in this series, The Surreal Killer, is set in Peru and Northern Chile's Atacama Desert and was published March 5, 2012. Keep your eyes open for Book #4, either here at AuthorsDen or on Amazon and Smashwords. We hope that you enjoy reading these books as much as I'm enjoying writing them.
The settings and locales for The Empanada Affair, The Ambivalent Corpse, and The Surreal Killer are authentic; the author lived previously in Salta, Argentina and in Montevideo, Uruguay for several months in each location, and has visited all of the locations used as background for these stories. The Empanada Affair’s title comes from a local food served ubiquitously as an appetizer in the region. The other two titles are explained early in the books.
If you ever wanted to learn how to fly a small plane, our heroes get a detailed lesson in The Surreal Killer. The author has logged up several hours flying a Cessna, so the details are authentic.
