I have completed the writing and illustrations for “Bella and Charlie and the Salt Marsh Pond” and “Bella and Charlie go to the Florida Keys.” Each book is approximately 30-40 pages with full illustrations. The initial four book series teaches basics about Florida and its diverse environment and unusual, threatened, endangered and invasive species.
My future plans for this series include multiple books to cover different geographical areas such as Australia, Asia, The Americas, Europe and more. It is additionally part of my plan to release a Spanish language edition by mid-year 2012 and in other languages soon after. My goal is that this series help educate children in different parts of the world about the environment, nature and the animals that live in their areas as well as other areas.
Looking forward, I would like to eventually produce relative interactive learning games, video games and maybe even consider producing a cartoon series. It should be fun to learn...
I had the good fortune to grow up on a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico. I am well traveled and love discovering special aspects of nature. Each unique and different. My books share my experiences with children that can't experience them first hand. My goal is to heighten awareness of our fragile environment and instill an appreciation of endangered and threatened species while subtly adding ideas of how we should treat others. I like to call it "Estuary Awareness."
Next in the Bella and Charlie's Great Adventure series is "Barry Barred Owl's Night Out". A clever tale about a conceited Barred owl that learns that just because you have a bad day doesn't mean everything won't turn out OK in the end! Currently in illustration.
