Rotten golfer. Board certified internist, medical director major ER, medical school professor, practiced internal medicine in Chicago. Retired to Florida.

Background Information

After a long career in the Chicago area as an internist, I retired and moved to Florida. Decided to take a fiction writing class with Hollis Alpert, an elderly well-known author, editor and movie critic. After perhaps a year of basic fiction writing, including critiquing many novels and short stories and following his guideline of “write—rewrite—get it right,” he gave us a list of five topics for a short story. One was “A Silver Box.” I had long been interested in the Holocaust, since all the men, women and children of my father’s Lithuanian family had been sent to a death camp by the Nazis and exterminated. Hollis later suggested I turn the story into a novel, and Hitler’s Silver Box is the result. Various illnesses  slowed the process down, so a number of years passed before completion.

Birth Place
DuQuoin, IL USA

All my achievements during my medical career. Nothing from writing fiction.

Additional Information

Have received some excellent reviews on my recently published novel Hitler's Silver Box.

Hitler's Silver Box
In Hitlerís Silver Box, Dr. Bruce Starkman, chief ER resident of Chicagoís Cook County Hospital is plucked from total immersion in his profession by the mysterious death of his Uncle Max. Only when Bruce finds his uncle's hidden journal detailing Maxís ordeal some fifty years before in Theresienstadt concentration camp, where he was forced to make a unique box for Adolph Hitlerís birthday does it all begins to make sense. Recognizing the death as murder, Bruce realizes a worldwide Nazi resurgence is imminent unless he finds and destroys the secret document written by Nazi leaders and hidden in the silver box, which his uncle buried in a Czech forest. The search takes Bruce and Miriam, a tough, attractive Israeli woman to Paris and the Czech Republic. On this journey, the two are incessantly pursued and attacked by groups of vicious neo-Nazis
