As a writer, I’m passionate about social justice and cultural issues that impact lives. Whether a non-fiction project that reveals the emotional trauma of a military widow seeking justice, or a Southern Gothic tale that explores the mysterious and indefinable qualities of my southern roots - I love to tell all kinds of stories. Some of my favorite authors include fellow southerners, Carson McCullers, Flannery O’Connor and Truman Capote, just to name a few. All of these writers were not only pioneers of the Southern Gothic genre but they were also unafraid to reveal the real injustices that go on in society - a powerful combination I strive daily to achieve.
