Hi. Welcome to my den!
To start with, let me give you a bit of an intro. After close to 10 years working in designing and implementing HIV prevention strategies and programs targeting most at risk populations including commercial sex workers, prisoners, long distance track-drivers, low income women, illicit brewers among other groups both locally and internationally, I find myself in a very awkward position…..a sudden twist of fate. It seems that, in the process of my "busy" schedule designing prevention strategies for others, I forgot to develop a strategy for myself as I am personally diagnosed with HIV!! How unlucky can a man be!
'Seroconversion: A Memoir' is my story. Written in an everyday tone and language, the story captures my moments from the day I get diagnosed towards the realization of my hidden talent; writing....and a new love, reading! It’s a journey of fear, despair, confusion, denial, struggle, shame, withdrawal, renewal, acceptance and hope. An inspiration at the darkest hour; a story of resilience!!!
C'mon! Lets Journey,
Nderitu wa' Gikumba.
