Hello,
I am a grandad and I enjoyed reading stories to my grandchildren so much I thought I would write some of my own.
I have written three collections of children's stories now, plus also a full length adventure for grown-ups; the space adventures of Col. Jack Fortune and his crew.
It makes a real change from my normal work experience of either talking all day at people and explaining how to use computers or actually sitting there and bashing away myself.
Grandchildren are wonderful creatures and it was writing to entertain them which brought back a host of inspirations 'from way back when' - the blue remembered hills of my own childish dreams. Its the memories of adventurers like 'Flash Gordon' that prompted me to write about the adventures of space hero Col. Jack Fortune.
If there is any writer I admire more than another then I would say it had to be Patrick O'Brien with his Aubrey-Maturin series. I greatly admire Stanley Kubrick, John Ford and John Huston.
