I am an attorney who lives in a small log cabin on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, immediately adjacent to Badlands National Park. I am an avid camper and love to travel with my three dogs. We have made two camping trips to Alaska recently and a third is planned for late this summer.
Life on the Reservation can be challenging, to say the least. I tend to disagree with the tribal politicians and have found myself in 'hot water' on more than one occasion, but I can't seem to keep my mouth shut about what goes on here.
I am a colon cancer survivor with surgery and six months of chemotherapy. The prognosis is good, but the whole experience has caused me to re-evaluate my life and what is and is not important. I decided that fulfilling my long-held dream of actually writing a novel was one of the important things. So I did. I finished BONES IN THE BADLANDS in March of 2003 and it was released just this month. It is intended to be the first in a series of mystery stories set in the BAdlands of South Dakota. Writing it was fun and I have started book number two. For whatever they are worth, they will be my legacy.
