Having taught in middle schools, high schools, community colleges, and alternative programs, my primary focus is to share my experience with other teachers.

Background Information

My entire professional career has been devoted to working with and writing for teenagers and the people who work with them. In recent years my focus has been on at-risk teens. I have written curriculum for schools and agencies and now publish books and newsletters for people who work with at-risk youth.

Birth Place
Durango, CO USA
Accomplishments

M.A. English and Education University of Oregon
Outstanding English Teacher - Newport High School - 1985
Author of articles and books
Owner of AYWN Publications, educational publishing

Additional Information

In addition to books, I publish a monthly newsletter for people who work with at-risk youth called Making a Difference. It is available via email or USPS. Every issue is filled with relevant news, teaching ideas and tips, a full lesson plan on a recently released video, and a summary/review of a recent book on at-risk youth. In the next few months we will introduce two more books: one an autobiography of a young person who grew up in the Indianapolis projects and conquered dyslexia, poverty, and racism to become a highly successful college graduate; the other is a guide for teachers and parents on teenage drug abuse, a highly unique viewpoint from a young teacher who was a drug-affected youth himself.
