Hammett has written five novels under his own name, the lastest being John Lennon and the Mercy Street Cafe, a work of magical realism in which Lennon finds himself in Grand Central Station in 2006, unaware he was assassinated. Hammett has also published poetry in literary journals around the country. He has a Masters degree in English and thirty graduate hours in education, teaching writing for twenty-five years at colleges and universities.
