Background Information

Wendy Hart Beckman is an award-winning freelance writer, editor, college instructor and mother of three sons. She has published more than 250 freelance articles in regional and national magazines and newspapers, and has received ten awards for her writing. Her articles have been published in Writer’s Digest, Cincinnati Magazine, M.D. News Magazine, Builder/Architect, Veterans Health System Journal and Qualified Remodeler, among others.

Beckman is also a freelance proofreader and editor. Beckman’s bachelors degrees are in geology and natural science/technical communications. She has a master’s degree in English with a concentration in Editing and Publishing as well as a graduate certificate in Professional Writing.

Beckman’s first book, a young adult nonfiction called Artists and Writers of the Harlem Renaissance (Enslow Publishers, Inc.), was published in 2002. Enslow also published National Parks in Crisis: Debating the Issues (2004); Dating, Relationships, and Sexuality: What Teens Should Know (2006); and Robert Cormier: Banned, Challenged, and Censored (2008). Her third book, Communication Tools Made Easy, was published by Kendall/Hunt in 2004. She is currently working on a novel about a women’s singing group.

Additional Information

Our one-day "Write On! Workshop" in Dayton, Ohio, on March 27, 2010, was fantastic!! I want to give a shout out to my "peeps" and fellow presenters, Valerie Coleman and Earth Jallow (truly -- I gave them some Easter peeps). We had an awesome time with another group of fabulous participants, excuse me -- future authors. Mark your calendar for the Write On! Workshop -- Cincy Style, which will be in the Sharonville area of Cincinnati on August 14, 2010.
