In January 2005, the author and three friends traveled to the tsunami ravaged city of Banda Aceh, Indonesia (ground zero for the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake) and worked in a displaced persons camp (IDP #85) where they installed a large generator and strung electric lights throughout the camp of 1,500 survivors, who lived in 250 tents. He chronicled this exciting adventure in his latest book - A Light in the Darkness.
The author has just returned from working two months in the Hurricane Katrina/Rita ravaged areas of Louisiana and Mississippi. There he assisted FEMA and the National Communications System with restoring the telecommunications and broadcast station infrustructure to its pre-hurricane operating status.
The author currently serves as a Senior Executive with the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. Since September 11, 2001, he has been a key player on a multi-agency team of federal executives whose efforts are critical to the government’s national security and emergency preparedness. He lived and worked in Saudi Arabia from 1978 until 1985 and is a retired United States Marine, a disabled Vietnam combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient.He lives with his wife, Annette, and three sons in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC.
