I have an esoteric professional background that runs the gamut from investigator, grant writer, researcher and analyst to flower deliverer, damaged goods inspector, humane officer and process server. These jobs have given me insight into worlds that the average person does not see.
My experiences give me ideas for writing. They also keep me interested in continuing to live life more fully and to learn something every day. Learning may come from any source - a situation, a place, a person encountered by chance.
I like to write satire and essays, and hope to write more fiction. My influences include Richard Price, T. C. Boyle, Sara Paretsky and Janet Evanovich. I also admire some of Clive Barker's work. Reading "The Great and Secret Show" felt like experiencing some of my own dreams and nightmares come to life. That may sound like a bad thing, but I found it fascinating. I would love to be able to make such a departure from reality-based writing, and that is one of my goals.
I also admire the satire of "The Daily Show," and the whimsy of Dr. Seuss.
