C. Kirkham: It was 1998 when I discovered the Friesian breed. I was browsing the web in the market for a horse when I saw a picture of a Friesian. My immediate reaction was, “Now that’s a horse!”
I studied all I could about the breed, which was very sparse at that time and still is. I did find that the breed was almost extinct in the early 1900’s with only three approved stallions for breeding.
I tried to think of a way to bring this dramatic, charming and gentle breed to the attention of the public. My love of horses, especially Friesians, and a desire to tell the world about the story of the little known Friesian horse breed prompted the writing of this book
I hope that you are moved to research Friesians horses and find ways to educate others about this marvelous breed. If you would like to see a part of the reason I fell in love with the breed visit my links for some pictures of the breed on www.tordenspage.com. The book “Torden, Hear the Thunder” will explain the other reasons.

I'm guessing the small bag stuffed full of ribbons won with my horses at "playdays" doesn't count here. So here are some other highlights:
Just celebrated my 11th anniversary! Happily, I might add. I have two handsome, grown boys. I ran a youth center for young adults. I spent most my adult life involved with computers and technology. Now I am living my passion - writing about horses!

Those who have read the manuscript called the book “compelling” and that they looked forward to reading more when they had to put it down. They “. . . thought about it often during the day.” until they could continue reading. Now, they are anxious for the second book which is in the beginning stages. It is expected to follow the first book about a year after its publication. Publication is expected in the August/September 2006 timeframe.
