I have spent much of the past decade finding, developing and promoting talented new voices in fiction. I founded the fiction magazine, Zoetrope: All-Story and was its editor in chief for seven years. Then I decided to take some time to write myself. Last year, Random House published my first novel, MAN CAMP, which will be released in paperback at the end of June. I'm currently working on a screenplay and a second novel (though it's more just an idea than anything else at the moment).

2005 -- My novel, MAN CAMP, was selected by Barnes & Noble for its Discover Great New Writers program.

2001 -- The magazine I edited won the National Magazine Award for Best Fiction.

I was a judge for the National Book Award for Best Fiction in 2002.
