Reading lets me experience life through another's eyes. Writing allows me to live other lives.

Background Information

Ken Kreckel writes novel length historical fiction and mysteries, as well as short stories and feature articles. An historical novel, “The Rommel Mission”, is under contract by Red Engine Press for publication in 2006. “Rocked by Murder”, a cozy mystery, was released by PublishAmerica in 2005. His short stories have been included in an anthology, Foreign Ground, Travelers’ Tales, published by Pronghorn Press in 2004, as well as collected works by Wyoming Writers. He has contributed articles to the Mensa Bulletin and the Casper Star Tribune, and his work has won awards from Writer’s Digest and Wyoming Writers. A professional geophysicist, Ken graduated with a BS in Geology from Michigan Technological University in 1974. He pursued a long career in oil and gas exploration, being personally involved in the discovery and development of numerous oil and gas fields. This occupation brought him to a myriad of locations across North America and Europe, many of which provide settings for his writing. His works cover a variety of subjects, including travel and history, with a particular emphasis on World War II and the Cold War eras, both of which have been lifelong interests. He resides in Casper, Wyoming, where he consults for the oil and gas industry and serves as a Planning Commissioner for the city. His passions are traveling in Europe, oil painting and cross country skiing. Most days he can be found writing at his home.
