Born in West Frankfort, Illinois, she left the area after graduating from Southern Illinois University. She and husband, Hal, lived in Annandale, Virginia for 40 years before moving to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1999. After a year of getting settled and decorating their new condominium, Freda began writing what she thought was her only book.

SERVING GRAVY WITH A SLOTTED SPOON was chosen "Book of the Month" by the publisher for two consecutive months.

Freda's latest book, GOD'S BOOK or DO YOU HAVE A MODEL APARTMENT? was released the last week of August 2004. It is a Christian book liberally laced with humor. Freda wrote a weekly newspaper column of humor for many weeks before devoting all of her time to writing books and speaking.
