The greatest thing you will ever learn, is to love and be loved in return. - Gringo Greene

Background Information

I have been writing for more years than I care to remember and have now written more than a dozen books and more than two hundred articles.

My main characters are Gringo Greene who is a philandering man, You can read about him and his adventures in "The Life and Loves of Gringo Greene".

My other favourite character (of mine) is Inspector Walter Darriteau who works out of the ancient city of Chester in the north-west of England.

You can read more about Walter in "The Murder Diaries - Seven Times Over" and "The Sound of Sirens".

My other books include "The Fish Catcher" and "Drift and Badger and the Search for Uncle Mo".

All my books are available in paperback and also on Kindle.

You can read lots more about them along with general book and film reviews on my website - see below.

Thank you for visiting my pages and reading thus far.

The Fish Catcher
Mary Fissleborough is fourteen. She has resisted being "sent to the country" dozens of times, but when the Mulryne's house opposite is flattened one afternoon by a German bomb, she thinks better of it. It is London in 1940, and the city is living through the hell of the blitz. Two days later along with her younger sister Daisy, and in the company of five hundred young strangers, she boards the train out of Paddington station bound for rural Devon two hundred miles to the west. They pitch up at a small town where the kids are collected by their new mums and dads. Some are wanted, some definitely not, but neither the children nor the adults have a choice in the matter. There's a war on don't you know. The Fissleborough sisters end up at Wolfdale Hall, but after the initial euphoria of their new home, Mary begins to wonder if all is as it seems. Who is the guy Oliver Tresco who hangs around the Hall doing nothing? Why is the front bedroom kept locked and bolted at all times? And where is the daughter Cicely, who no one has ever seen? And are the sisters ultimately safe at the Hall? As Mary delves deeper into the secrets of Wolfdale she uncovers things that might have been better left undisturbed, but even she could not have imagined where they might lead. The Fish Catcher is out now, ISBN 978-1-84753-930-4available through all good bookshops and online bookstores.

The Life and Loves of Gringo Greene
Have you ever been in love? Was it good for you? Would you do it again? Gringo Greene has never been in love. That's half his problem. But when a young woman gives in her notice at Dryden Engineering no one really cared that much, except perhaps Gringo Greene. In her absence he dives into a series of frantic affairs that will change his life forever, but can he find happiness and contentment, and more to the point, will he ever be able to forget her? The Life and Loves of Gringo Greene explores the pain and confusion of love, sex, domestic violence, and unrequited love, amid personal relationships that crash and burn to nothing. But ultimately where is Gringo Greene heading? Toward his defining days, as he describes them, that's where, just like all the rest of us. The Life and Loves of Gringo Greene may remind you of once you once had... of what is truly valuable... and just maybe... of what you still seek.
